Internal label and display label
All plans
Print display labels with price and allergens for the counter, and internal labels with the lot for the semi-finished products in the cold room.
What it is for
Besides the legal label of the prepacked product, a bakery needs two more: the display label, which tells customers at the counter the name, price, ingredients and allergens of what you sell loose; and the internal label, which identifies what you keep in the cold room (a cream, a dough, a base) with its lot and dates.
Both come from the recipe, without writing anything by hand. The display label is used by whoever serves in the shop; the internal one, by the bakery and whoever looks after HACCP.
Before you start
- Recipes with their allergens and traces checked.
- For the display: the selling price on each recipe's Selling prices tab and, if you like, a main photo and the company logo.
- For the internal label: the shelf-life days in Recipe data and a label printer connected to the device.

Choose the recipes
In My Recipes, use the filters (for example With RRP or by family) and tick the recipes. In the selection bar click Display label. For a single recipe, use the editor's Print › Display label menu.
Decide what is shown
Print display labels opens. Under Visibility you choose Show logo, Show recipe image, Show ingredients, Show traces and Show price.
Give it your style
In General settings: font type and size, text colour, Background color, Borders (solid, dashed or dotted, thickness and colour), Margins, Width in % and Max. items/page. Each text (name, ingredients, traces, price) can be bold, italic and underlined.
Click Print. You get a document with all the labels, ready to print on paper or card and place in the display case.
- 1Visibility: which details appear on each label.
- 2General settings: colours, borders, margins and how many labels fit on a page.
Allergen information is also mandatory for unpacked food. The display label or an allergen menu published with a QR code does that job. More context in Allergen labelling.
Internal label
The internal label is for semi-finished products and work in progress: name, manufacturing date, best-before date, lot, quantity and internal barcode. That code is what the production order scanner reads later to deduct the lot when you use it in another recipe.
Set it up in the recipe
In Label configuration, change the Labeling type to Internal labeling. You can change the Product name, the Font type and the Font size, and Hide barcode if you do not use it.
Test it
Type a test Produced quantity (it is not saved) and click Preview or Print draft. It is also in the editor's Print › Internal label menu.
Print the real one from the order
When you finish the production order, in Label printing › Manage labels, choose Internal label. It comes out with the real lot and dates of that batch.
Stick the internal label on every container that goes into the cold room. When you use it in another preparation, scan it from the production order: Recipok deducts that lot and the traceability is done without writing anything down.
Tips
- If you change a recipe (a new ingredient, an allergen), print its display labels again: they do not update themselves on paper.
- Display labels come out in the page size you choose when printing; adjust Max. items/page and Width in % to make the most of the sheet.
