Label designer
Enabled on request
Build the label on the real size of your roll or sheet, with a grid of blocks, 8 ready-made designs and a warning if the text does not fit.
What it is for
Recipok's classic label grows downwards with its content: perfect for a continuous roll. But if you print on fixed-size labels (a 60 × 40 mm roll, an A4 sheet of sticky labels, a Dymo), you need everything to fit exactly in that space.
The Label designer builds the label on its real size: a grid of up to 5 × 5 cells, each block in its place, with its own font, border and background, and text that shrinks automatically to fit. It comes with 8 ready-made designs to start from. It is used by bakeries that pack for shops or distribution and want a label that looks like their brand.
Before you start
- Enabled on request: it is an add-on module. Ask the Recipok team and we will switch it on for your account.
- Have the consumer label set up: the designer uses its elements (name, ingredients, nutrition, lot, dates…). If a block comes out empty, fill it in under Label elements.
- Have the exact size of your labels to hand (width and height in millimetres) and the type of printer.
Choosing a starting design
In the recipe, go to Label configuration › Label design. Choose one of the eight designs; you can change everything afterwards.
| Design | Size | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Full consumer label | 105 × 74 mm | Ingredients and nutrition side by side, barcode and company at the bottom. |
| Branded label | 105 × 74 mm | Full-width title band and full-height logo. For colour printing. |
| Compact roll | 58 × 40 mm | The essentials in the bakery: name, lot, expiry date, weight and code. |
| Frozen goods | 60 × 40 mm | Freezing date and best-before date shown prominently. |
| Minimal | 50 × 30 mm | Only what is legally essential, with no barcode. |
| Long carton | 99.1 × 38.1 mm | Text on the left and a full-height barcode on the right. |
| Shipping box | 100 × 150 mm | A large label with a traceability QR code and all the mandatory information. |
| Internal traceability | 89 × 36 mm | Work in progress inside the bakery: what it is, which lot and which day. |
Adjusting the design
Label size
Choose a size from the list (Thermal roll, A4 label sheet or Dymo) or a Custom size with its Width (mm) and Height (mm). Adjust the Margin, the Spacing between blocks, the Background and the Outer border.
Grid
Set how many Columns and Rows (from 1 to 5) and the Width of each column and Height of each row.
Place the blocks
Drag each block to a free cell: logo, name, ingredients, nutrition information, manufacturing, best-before and freezing dates, lot, weight, company details, free texts, additional information, image, barcode and QR code. A block can take up several cells (Spans columns, Spans rows, Full-width row, Full-height column).
Format each block
Click a block to edit its font, the Minimum (pt) and Maximum (pt) size (or Automatic), the alignment, Bold, Uppercase, colours, Bordered sides and Inner padding (mm).
Check that everything fits
In green: everything fits. In red, the blocks that do not fit even at the minimum size. In amber, those that drop below 6.5 pt.

- 1Blocks: dragged onto the grid; each takes its content from the recipe's label elements.
- 2Fit warning: tells you whether everything fits before you print.
Printing and reusing
- Click Print and, in the browser window (Ctrl+P), choose a paper size equal to the label, zero margins, and switch on background graphics if you use colours or backgrounds.
- The design is used when you print the consumer label from the recipe and from the production order, with the real lot and weight. The internal label does not change.
- Save as template saves the design for other recipes; Apply a template design brings it into the current recipe.
- Start from another design lets you switch to a different starting design; Back to the classic label deletes the design.
A direct thermal printer only prints in black: background and text colours will not come out. Barcodes with a valid GTIN are printed as GS1-128, just as on the classic label (see Barcodes).
Tips
- Start from the design closest to what you need, and change the size before the blocks.
- If the ingredients list does not fit, give that block more rows or columns before making the font smaller.
- Print a test on the real label and compare it with the screen before you start production.
