Price lists by type of customer

All plans

Create price lists based on the RRP, on the wholesale price or with a free price, adjust them per product and assign them to each customer.

What it is for

A price list is a set of prices for a type of customer: “Cafés, 30% off the RRP”, “Distributors, the wholesale price minus 10%”. You create it once, assign it to each customer and Recipok puts the right price on their orders, their dispatches and in the portal, with no spreadsheets.

It is set up by whoever sets the prices: the owner or the sales manager. In the app, price lists are called Sales rates. They can be created on any plan and are used in sales (orders, dispatches, stores and portal).

Before you start

  • Enter the RRP in your recipes and, if you sell to wholesalers, the wholesale price. Price lists start from those prices. We explain it in Selling price and margins.
  • If you sell the same product in several sizes, create its sales formats first: each format can have its own price per price list.

The three types of price list

Based on the RRP

A percentage or an amount added to or taken off each product's RRP. Change the RRP and the price list follows automatically.

Based on the wholesale price

The same, but starting from each recipe's wholesale price. Useful if you have two wholesale tiers.

Free price

No calculation: you type the price by hand in each recipe or format. For customers with prices agreed one by one.

Adjust the price of a product in a price list

In the recipe editor, on the Selling prices tab, the Rates by format section shows the price of each price list for each sales format. There you can:

  • Enter the price for Free price lists.
  • Override the calculated price of any price list for a specific product.
  • See the margin of each price list against your target margin: Excellent, High, Medium, Low or No margin. That way you spot the price list that loses you money on a product.

Ingredients you resell as they are also have their formats and prices per price list in their record.

Assign the price list to a customer

In Sales › Customers, open the customer record and choose their price list in the Sale price field: RRP (default), Wholesale price or one of your price lists. More in Customers.

How the price of a line is decided

In this order: the price entered for that price list in the recipe or format; if there isn't one, the RRP or the wholesale price with the price list's percentage; if the customer has no price list but does have “Wholesale price”, that one; and if not, the RRP. You can always correct it by hand on the order or the dispatch.

Tips

  • Few, well-thought-out price lists: it's easier to raise prices for one type of customer than for fifty individual customers.
  • The PDF catalogue in My Recipes can include one column per price list: it's the price list you hand to each type of customer.
  • Stores and the portal use the price list of the customer placing the order: check the prices a trusted customer sees before inviting the rest.

Frequently asked questions

If I change the retail price of a recipe, do the price list prices change?
Yes, in price lists calculated on the RRP or on the wholesale price: the price list price is recalculated automatically. Free price lists don’t move, because you type the price yourself in each recipe.
Can I give a customer a different price on just one product?
Yes. In the recipe, under Selling prices › Rates by format, enter the price of that product for their price list: it overrides the percentage. And on any order or dispatch you can correct the price of a line by hand.
How many price lists can I create?
As many as you need. The practical approach is one per type of customer (cafés, hotels, shops, distributors), not one per customer.
