I can’t delete an ingredient
All plans
Why an ingredient won’t delete or is deactivated instead of deleted, and how to remove it from your recipes first.
What it is for
You want to tidy up your ingredient list and one of them won’t go away, or Recipok tells you it hasn’t deleted anything. This is almost always because the ingredient is used in a recipe or in old production orders, and Recipok protects it so as not to break your costs or your traceability.
Symptom
- You select several ingredients, click delete and see “No ingredient has been deleted (they may be in use)”, or fewer are deleted than you selected.
- You use Delete all unused and some ingredients are still in the list, or the message says they have been deactivated.
Causes
| How you delete | What Recipok does |
|---|---|
| Several at once (select and delete) | Skips those that are in a recipe that hasn’t been deleted. The rest go to the Trash. |
| Delete all unused | Doesn’t touch those that are in a recipe. It permanently deletes the others; those that appear in old production orders or movements and can’t be deleted are deactivated: they no longer appear for use, but they are kept for traceability. |
| Delete ingredient icon on a row | Sends it to the Trash even if it is in recipes. That is why it is worth checking first where it is used. |
Solution
| Ingredient | Price | |
|---|---|---|
| T45 flour 1(3) | €0.62/kg | ✎ 🗑 |
| T45 flour supplier B (2) | €0.58/kg | ✎ 🗑 |
| Cream cheese (1) | €6.90/kg | ✎ 🗑 |
| Maple syrup 2(0) | €9.80/L | ✎ 🗑 |
- 1It is in 3 recipes: replace it in them before deleting it.
- 2(0): it isn’t in any recipe; you can delete it.
See which recipes it is in
In My ingredients, the number in brackets next to the name, for example (3), is the number of recipes that use it. Click it to see the list of recipes.
Remove or replace it in each recipe
Open each recipe and use Replace ingredients to swap it for the right one (for example, “T45 flour supplier B” for “T45 flour”), or remove it with Edit ingredients. See Reformulate, duplicate and replace.
Delete it
When the counter shows (0), delete it. If it appears in old production orders, it will be deactivated: that is correct, because your past lots still point to it.
Delete all unused cannot be undone: what it deletes doesn’t go through the Trash. Use it mainly at the start, to remove the sample ingredients.
To recover something deleted by mistake, see Trash and activity log.
